What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
We enjoy the change of culture, find the people friendly and relaxed. The food is always good for us because we like spicy stuff. We find it a country where we can escape from our day to day life here in the UK.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Nothing really – Gal Oya was a bit sweaty and may be the accommodation (bedroom) could be a bit cooler at night.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
All very nice generally but:
Forest Rock [Garden] Resort {Anuradhapura] – It was empty and the service was poor. Ran out of beer (except Carlsberg), food service was slow and the staff didn’t seem to take notice of what was ordered. The site could do with much better signing.
Gal Oya [Lodge] – may be think about air conditioning in the bedrooms.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Niroshan was reliable and a safe driver. His knowledge was good and his English fine – we could easily understand him. He presented himself well and tweaked the site visits to suit our oldish bodies!
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Good and on time. [Emirates – Economy Class – London Gatwick]
Any other comments?
The tipping situation is not quite what you suggest. Some of the hotels have a policy not to tip individually, there is a box to put the tip in, so it is distributed to all staff (so they say!!).
