What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Excellent knowledge of history and wildlife (particularly birds), kind and gentle with sense of humour, always ready with tasty snacks from street vendors and finding best fruit in markets. [Anura]
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Qatar Airlines planes from Manchester to Doha and back were not as comfortable as the Oman Air planes from Doha to Colombo and back. [Booked own flights]
Any other comments?
Probably one of the best holidays we have experienced because we travelled slowly, spending more than a few nights in one location. The people we met were extraordinary, be they local or the adventurers at accommodations stayed at. The food was delicious and abundant, though we avoided western food where possible. This was almost the perfect blend of organised travel, curated by John based on our ideas and his suggestions, and elements we organised ourselves. John was very happy to accommodate complicated arrangements including catering for our children arriving half-way through the tour. Nothing was too much trouble.
Above all, Sri Lanka was so welcoming and the people full of smiles. This will be the lasting impression we take away but have vowed to return.
An extraordinary country, full of resilient people who have suffered considerably in the past, but now demonstrate a wellbeing based seemingly on kindness and consideration, where nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you John, Pathi, Anura and all at Tikalanka.
