What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The friendliness of the people, the beauty of the landscape. Roads were much improved, Fabulous sights e.g. temples, Sigiriya, walking in the Knuckles [Mountain] Range. The Geoffrey and Bevis Bawa gardens [Lunuganga and Brief, Bentota, respectively]. Learning about history and culture of Sri Lanka.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Weather was a bit variable. We had quite a lot of rain but it didn’t stop us doing anything.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
We absolutely LOVED all our accommodation, [we] were so well looked after in all the hotels. They were all exceptionally lovely spots – especially Madulkelle [Tea & Eco Lodge, Knuckles]. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. Bentota Club Villa staff were very helpful and it was such a treat to be in an architectural gem.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Extremely polite, professional but friendly and approachable. Knowledgeable and interesting about history and cultural aspects of Sri Lanka. We enjoyed hearing his views and philosophies of life. He is a committed Buddhist and this made visits to temples especially informative. An exceedingly good chauffeur and guide. Very well organised and experienced. [Sena]
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Great – but we organised them ourselves. SriLankan Airlines.
Any other comments?
The train journey from Kandy to Colombo worked out very well in our Observation Carriage.
The journey from Kandy to Madulkelle was a little hairy but more of a strain for Sena than us. It took at least 3 hours. The “naturalist” was not available for the walking that we wanted, but they were able to provide us with a local man who helps around the hotel and he was a great substitute.
We had a truly fantastic holiday!
Thanks so much.
