Thank you so much for all your planning and the consideration you put into our requests for our honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
The experience was unforgettable with so many memorable occasions.
We were spoilt by having Kapila and his outstanding wildlife knowledge and ability to spot animals whilst driving. His passion and enthusiasm for Sri Lanka is infectious, always ensuring that we got excellent photo opportunities. He was a very safe driver and negotiated narrow country tracks, busy towns and main roads with skill and humour. He took time when we arrived at each location to explain Rachel's dietary requirements and made sure we were settled and comfortable before leaving. We cannot say enough good things about Kapila. He is an excellent ambassador for Tikalanka and he very much enjoys being part of the company and is proud to be on your team.
It was a pleasure to meet your colleague Mr Pathi and stay in his accommodation [Hanthana House, Kandy], which while basic enabled us to see the final night of the Perahera.
We understand from Kapila that is was the first time you had used Casa Heliconia [Airport] and we can only say you have found a gem. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful providing a complimentary bottle of excellent Chilean wine. The room was comfortable and mosquito free and the food was first class (as was the wine!) - a super start to our honeymoon.
Norwood Bungalow, Ceylon Tea Trails [Adam's Peak] - outstanding in every respect, but we are sure you already know this. Amazing food, service, accommodation and location.
Ellerton Estate Manager's Bungalow [Kandy] - we were made to feel very welcome and the food was very good as was the accommodation.
Elephant Corridor [Sigiriya] - the setting was super and an ideal location for all the activities planned for us. We are led to believe, from TripAdvisor, that there has been a change in management recently and improvements are continuing to be made. The food was OK and while the room/suite was large and well appointed the bed was a bit uncomfortable and poorly constructed. The staff appeared to panic a lot as the management team micro-managed their every move. We are sure that over time this will improve as the hotel has all the ingredients to be stunning. Incidentally a Swiss couple approached us to share their views on the quality of the service and food and they made their feelings known to the management, after which we found things improved slightly.
Jungle Beach [Nilaveli] - a lovely location and an excellent and comfy room with a fabulous beach (thank you!). The staff were friendly and the food was very good.
Heritance Kandalama [Dambulla] - a comfortable room, great location with super views and a lovely way to end our trip.
