What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The lovely people.
The cultural sights.
The birds and wildlife.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Poor quality of roads.
Poor quality of shops in some cities and towns.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Every hotel/guesthouse except one was very good quality, some quite luxurious. Food was good and all seemed good value. The only exception was Fort Bliss in Galle – much lower quality accommodation, though the people there were very helpful.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
He was excellent. Chathura was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and discreet. His driving, in some difficult circumstances, was extremely good and he put our requirements and our safety first.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Very good. Nice staff, food OK, on time, good choice of films etc. [SriLankan Airlines]
Any other comments?
We had a brilliant time, we’ve wanted to go to Sri Lanka for years and the holiday had everything we wanted. Having our own driver was such a luxury and essential to seeing and learning all about the country. We felt it was good value considering the high standard of accommodation and a dedicated driver.
One suggestion – we’re 66 and reasonably fit but we found the climbs up to Sigiriya and Golden Temple [Dambulla] quite tough – may be some indication of the level of difficulty for the less-than-super fit would be useful! But it’s a minor complaint.
