What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The people, always smiling, friendly and helpful.
The country was beautiful, and clean.
Wildlife was spectacular.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Not a lot – some of the driving habits (of others, not our guide) were questionable to put it mildly.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Generally very good.
Big Game Camp [Yala] was least comfortable and fairly ‘standard’ fare but convenient for Yala, however we would probably try elsewhere if going again.
Buckingham Place [Tangalle] was great way to unwind in luxury after a busy 10 days.
Galkadawala [Forest Lodge, Habarana] excellent home cooked veggie cooking.
Hanthana [House, Kandy] also excellent cooking and lovely to meet Pathi.
Amba Estate [Ella] very comfortable.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Nihal was excellent and ‘made’ the trip ! He was extremely knowledgeable especially about the birds which we really appreciated (better than the birding guide we used in Kalametiya).
He was a safe driver, very cheerful and eager to let us make the most of our time. Happy to help sort out queries even after he had left us at Buck Place.
Highly recommended – we would flex any future visit around his availability.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
They were OK – it’s a long way to go and a short break in Doha was good for a breather. We were just unlucky our flight Doha to Colombo was delayed (and Nihal was unaware so had waited for hours at the airport for us). [Qatar Airways - London Heathrow - Economy Class]
Any other comments?
Loved Sri Lanka and will return to explore the north, revisit the highlands (with enough time to do some decent walks) and return to Buckingham Place.
Now got hundreds of photos to try and sort!
