Coming home.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Mostly above average to excellent.
The Secret Ella [Ella], Deco on 44 [Galle] and Avani Bentota Resort & Spa [Bentota] offered outstanding service.
Our room at Club Villa [Bentota] was shabby and below the standard of every other room we stayed in during our holiday. However, the management kindly agreed to refund the outstanding nights costs when we explained we were unhappy and moved hotel. Rather than be disrespectful we explained we wanted easy access on to the beach.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Excellent. High standard of English. Looked after us very well – especially considerate regarding my limited mobility. Explained culture, history and religion in an interesting way. [Niroshan]
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
In-flight service excellent – issues around seats outgoing flight was disappointing when we had booked so far ahead. [SriLankan Airlines - Business Class]
Any other comments?
We had a wonderful holiday, Sri Lanka exceeded our expectations in many ways.
Our guide/driver Niroshan was superb. He was very knowledgeable (a walking encyclopaedia), friendly, considerate, punctual. We have learnt so much about the Sri Lankan culture, history and the Buddhist religion. We feel he did everything he possibly could to ensure we had a lovely holiday and was very patient stopping on numerous occasions so we could take photographs. He was very considerate regarding my mobility limitations, helping and supporting me over rough ground, up and down steps etc.
The safari's exceeded our expectations by miles, we were saw a wealth of wonderful wildlife and were lucky enough to see elephants every time.
The hotels we enjoyed the most were The Secret Ella and Deco on 44 because of the high standard of; accommodation, location, food and excellent service. But generally we found service was of a high standard and everyone at the hotels from the gardener to the management were friendly and made sure we were comfortable and happy.
If the Avani on Bentota Beach is not on your list of hotels at present I would suggest you consider adding it as again the standard of accommodation food and customer service were excellent and its location was outstanding.
The service from Sri Lankan Airlines was superb on the flights (much better than we've have this misfortune to experience from BA long haul in the past), the check-in process at Heathrow and Colombo could have been better but there were just minor issues.
Thank you for all your hard work to ensure we had such a wonderful holiday.
We really enjoyed our holiday and hope to return to Sri Lanka in 2018.
