What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
We knew that there are smiling people, UNESCO Heritage list's sites and beautiful nature, this all proved to be true. The biggest surprise about the country was very tasty food. We were lucky to visit places with exceptionally good chefs!!!
Our guide Niroshan was very professional both for introducing the country as well as doing the difficult job of driving.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
We found the heavy pressure to visit the gem stores bit annoying. And it seemed that the prices were not any different from the Europe.
Any other comments?
Our experience with Buckingham Place [Tangalle] was just amazing!!! So were the stays with Galkadawala forest lodge [Habarana], Hathana House [Kandy] and Zion View [Guesthouse, Ella] where we were offered very delicious home-made meals.
Unfortunately we did not have the best experience with The Safari hotel [Tissamaharama] as Olivier suffered food poisoning. The most likely cause was the orange juice that had tap water mixed into it.
On guide services wise, the experience with [Labookellie] tea factory [Nuwara Eliya] was not the best. We must have hit the wrong time. Too many tourists and couldn't hear much.
A bit of disappointment was also the hike in Horton Plains as we saw very little wildlife. However, we took some very good photos of sunrise! So, overall, it was good experience.
