What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
Variety of things to see: wildlife, cultural and landscapes.
Friendly people.
Good food.
Lack of other tourists due to pandemic.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Irksome multiple security checks/waiting on departing through Colombo Airport.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Generally very good.
A few places showing a lack of investment due to the pressures of no guests during pandemic. For this reason avoid the Number One Mirissa [Mirissa] as quite run down (although staff trying hard).
Avoid the beach front at Mirissa due to all night music/parties (our place wasn’t too bad but you could still hear it).
Kalu’s Hideaway [Udawalawe] and Cinnamon Wild [Yala] were our favourites.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Anura was excellent. He had a passion for seeing wildlife and identifying birds which was brilliant. Extremely punctual and polite, very slightly softly spoken. He often knew the “tricks”- like where to go for the best view on to look out for Scups Owls in an unpromising looking location.
Considering that Anura stepped in at the last moment he did a fantastic job.
We particularly liked the fact he bought us rotis and samosas as snacks along the way - really tasty authentic food.
I hope Tikalanka can find further work for him in the future.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
SriLankan Airlines - not bad at all. [Economy Class – London Heathrow]
Any other comments?
Unusually we didn’t buy any products or souvenirs on this trip.
