What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
Wildlife – birds, leopards, crocodiles and elephants.
Landscape and Culture.
Beaches.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Food – unfortunately we do not like spicy food although staff were very accommodating to help us find something we did like!
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Wilpattu Corridor [Wilpattu] – Quirky and rusty, a really good start. Staff were exceptionally accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble.
The Other Corner, Habarana – This was our favourite accommodation and experience. Excellent naturalist, Dhillip. Excellent staff, wonderful surroundings. Food was good. We liked seeing monkeys and peacocks and other animals as we sat outside our accommodation.
Hotel Suisse – Kandy – This was fine but not really to our taste. It was in the middle of the city. I know you had already tried to put us off this!
98 Acres [Resort] – Ella – Wonderful accommodation with views and good food. By far the best of our stay. Excellent staff. We were fine but anyone who struggles with steps should not go here.
Gal Oya Lodge [Gal Oya] – Excellent accommodation and staff. We were little disappointed with the boat safari as we thought that we would see elephants swimming but was told by our guide this was rare and indeed we only saw two elephants in the distance. Compare to TOC [The Other Corner] the bird walk was disappointing but this in part was due to our guide.
Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa, Passikudah – Good. Friendly staff.
Pledge 3, Negombo – this fulfilled its purpose. It was fine.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Helpful and kind, nothing was too much trouble. Nilhal went out of his way to enhance our experience and that we gained the most from our holiday: drinking a King Coconut; organizing a visit to the Cultural Centre dance show because he knew we liked dance.
Excellent wildlife knowledge, he made our safari’s better for being on them. Whilst driving Nihal would still point out animals!
Nihal’s wildlife knowledge was matched by his knowledge of his culture and religion.
We felt safe at all times and Nihal ensured that we had the best view and experience wherever we went.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Fine – as you are aware we did have the issue about not sitting together on the way home but this was sorted out once we went to the airport. Thank you for your help. [SriLankan Airlines – Economy Class]
