What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
A green and fertile island with variety to offer visitors, lovely people. Enjoyed the ancient sites, Buddhism, highlands and briefly coast, also the elephants.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Can’t think of anything at the moment.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Six hotels we stayed at all different in style, helpful and friendly staff.
Few complaints.
Room at Lake Lodge [Kandalama, Dambulla] smelt damp, think attention needed in bathroom, otherwise great place.
Wasn’t too impressed with Apa Villa Thalpe [Unawatuna] – shower and loo together in too small area, broken fridge in room (unsightly), no bathrobes, service not as good as other hotels and dinner not good.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Anura, our driver [guide], was great, with a lovely smile. Knowledgeable as a guide, excellent driver and always punctual. We enjoyed his company and learning something of life and culture [in] SL.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Unfortunate that work on runway at Colombo airport had a detrimental effect on flight times, particularly return flights.
Any other comments?
It was unfortunate that we did not have separate rooms at 98 Acres Resort [Ella], which we had been looking forward to, and a disappointment not to have the train journey. Another time…
