What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
On the whole, the accommodation that we stayed in was fantastic. However, we were very surprised that Tikalanka booked us into Far Cry [Wasgamuwa] for two nights as the accommodation was clearly unsuitable for guests with very limited cooking facilities and a non-working pool. As a travel agent specialising in travel to Sri Lanka, I was very surprised that Tikalanka used this hotel and they were not aware that the hotel did not reflect the description and images that were depicted on the website that John sent to us when booking the holiday. [The management at Far Cry had changed between booking and taking their holiday and the new management had ensured that the hotel was in full working order. With over 300 properties on our recommended accommodation list, it is not possible to check all of the accommodation regularly.] It was agreed that the accommodation was not suitable and further accommodation was sought. Whilst we were happy to pay additional costs for a better hotel we did not expect to pay the full amount on top of the money paid to Far Cry and we incurred additional costs of almost £500. [We apologise for the very poor quality of Far Cry, which has been removed from our accommodation list, and the inconvenience caused by the change of hotels. The customers were reimbursed for all extra expenses incurred on returning home, to the customers’ total satisfaction.] We appreciate that Tikalanka paid for the evening meals but again we were booked into Far Cry on a HB basis so had not budgeted for evening meals. The revised hotel that we stayed in was fabulous [Lake Lodge Kandalama, Dambulla].
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Ravi, our chauffeur, was fantastic. He was very accommodating. He always checked with us as to the plans for the day and nothing was too much trouble. He made our holiday very special.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
They were good. The flight times were convenient and we were pleased with the airline. [SriLankan Airlines – Economy Class]
