What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
Beautiful/interesting hotels.
Friendliness of those we met.
Interesting safaris, ancient monuments.
What did you like most about Maldives?
Sun, sea sand and myriads of fish.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
A lot of driving - day driving - day off.
What did you like least about Maldives?
Wife very badly bitten - source unknown.
Very expensive.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
On the whole excellent, very special.
[The] Fort Printers hotel in Galle had stupid beds (see Joan Fawcus report).
Lake Lodge Kandalama [Dambulla], lovely setting, tho' the trees have grown almost enough to hide the views, but the hotel lacked atmosphere.
Other hotels all exceptional in their different ways.

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Oska [Oscar] was lovely, 10/10. Very helpful in all sorts of situations, very knowledgeable, an amazing driver in Sri Lankan traffic, always on time.
One small problem, I only understood one word in ten when he was driving - I needed a translation - fine when talking face to face.
Any other comments?
Overall a great trip - we loved the place.
Perhaps too much driving in the 11 days we were there [in Sri Lanka].
I think to do the trip we did actually need nearly 3 weeks with longer stays.
Qatar [Airways] Business [Class] going out was superb [from Manchester]. Coming back (at night) not nearly so good.
