What did you like least about Sri Lanka?

Being persuaded (or they tried unsuccessfully!) to buy gems and homeopathic ointments etc. in Kandy/Hanthana!

What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?

Generally very good.

Borderlands Eco Lodge [Kitulgala] – excellent. Very comfortable and high standard of staff. Loved white water rafting and felt very safe. Delicious food. Highly recommended.
Hanthana House, Kandy – also excellent. Very welcoming and extremely comfortable. Loved Mrs Pathi’s cookery lesson.
The Other Corner [Habarana] – Not great. Felt run down and not welcoming. Wouldn’t go back. Food very average.
Nilaveli Beach Hotel [Nilaveli] – enjoyed very much. Buffet food option very average but Beach Bar food was excellent. Felt they were struggling financially e.g. no air con turned on in lounge area. But amazing location and comfortable rooms. Memorable dinner on beach one night.
Thamaravila by The Elephant Stables [Wilpattu] – Bit chaotic. Comfortable rooms but very slow service for food so we were 1 hour late leaving for our afternoon safari which was very frustrating. Excellent safari guide so overall experience was very good. Food disappointing.
Villa Hundira, Negombo – Felt rather isolated staying here – had hoped to be able to wander around the main parts of Negombo but too far away. But delicious food. Room OK but power cut in night so no air con from 2am. So very hot! Also, lots of mosquitoes so had to move inside for breakfast as was being badly bitten.

What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?

Excellent. Nihal was fantastic and so friendly. Highly recommend him.
