What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The beautiful scenery, the amazing wildlife, the friendly people and the delicious food!
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
So many street dogs.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
All the accommodation was excellent. We enjoyed staying in homestays or small hotels where we met so many interesting people and enjoyed wonderful home cooked Sri Lankan dishes.
Most of the places were away from busy roads and traffic so we loved waking to the sound of birds. The staff in all the accommodation made us very welcome and were extremely attentive.
The Other Corner, Habarana – beautiful chalet surrounded by wonderful trees and gardens.
Hanthana House, Kandy – set up in the hills above the city, quiet and peaceful and wonderful home cooked Sri Lankan dishes.
Clove Tree Cottage, Amba Estate, Ella – on an organic tea plantation where we took a great tour of the estate and enjoyed walks in the hills and swimming in the nearby river and waterfall.
Kalu’s Hideaway – fantastic room in the trees, great location for visiting wonderful Uda Walawe [National Park].
Sinharaja Rest – a peaceful chalet reached by tuk tuk surrounded by fabulous scenery. Pali, the owner, was a fantastic guide for the day trek into Sinharaja National Park.
Number One Mirissa, Mirissa – great place overlooking the sea and ideal for chilling on the lovely beach.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Our chauffeur guide Chathura was absolutely fantastic. He was a very safe driver and was a fountain of knowledge on everything from culture, to history and the fauna and flora of his beautiful country. His great passion was birdlife and his enthusiasm rubbed off on us. He always made sure we were happy with everything and we really enjoyed his company on our three week trip to Sri Lanka.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
We travelled on direct flights with Sri Lankan Airlines from London to Colombo [Business Class]. The seats were extremely comfortable and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend this airline.
Any other comments?
We cannot praise Tikalanka high enough. Everything about our trip was perfect from the moment we initially spoke to John when planning our holiday to the moment we arrived home. We would have no hesitation in recommending Tikalanka to anyone wishing to holiday on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka and when we return to visit other parts we will book with them again.
