What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
Historic cities, staying out of urban areas, Yala jeep safari, views from World’s End [Horton Plains National Park], staying in Heritance Tea Factory [Nuwara Eliya], nature walk with Hotel Sigiriya naturalist.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Tour of Anuradhapura (not guided by Nihal) was a bit haphazard – we didn’t see the ancient city.
Jeep safari in Minneriya [National Park] was not very enthusiastically presented (and it was an extra attraction, not pre-paid!).
Density of jeeps in Uda Walawe [National Pak] was excessive and not good for animals.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Hotel J in Negombo was extremely utilitarian.
All the other hotels matched our expectations and were well recommended.
Standouts were of course Heritance [Tea Factory], Cinnamon Wild [Yala] and [The] Fort Printers [Galle].
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
(Nihal) The epitome of friendliness, enthusiasm, always ready to put himself out for us, stopping for photos, very knowledgeable about wildlife. Vehicle was very clean and Nihal’s driving was very safe.
Constructive criticism: It would help if Nihal worked on a more comprehensive itinerary (with back up information) for Galle and Anuradhapura.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
N/A [Arranged own flights]
