What did you like most about Sri Lanka?
The people, the flora and fauna, the scenery.
What did you like least about Sri Lanka?
Congested cities. The heat (at times) – 35C.
What is your opinion of your accommodation in Sri Lanka?
Excellent throughout. Impeccable service.
Two individual downsides:
- Overnight road noise (trucks) at The Frangipani Tree [Unawatuna].
- Approach road to [Jetwing] Warwick Gardens – verging on the dangerous.
What is your opinion of your chauffeur guide in Sri Lanka?
Chathura was excellent – courteous, helpful, thoughtful, knowledgeable on history, culture and wildlife. Also a first-rate driver. Thanks to him, many of the stresses and strains of tourism were alleviated.
What is your opinion of your flights to and from Sri Lanka?
Emirates Business Class – we got what we paid for – the best. [London Gatwick departure]
Any other comments?
We would have been much more comfortable in a larger car. The vehicle we had had limited visibility and leg-room, and had we taken more luggage (we are light travellers) it would have had to share the car with us. The a/c in the back was not ideal. We would happily have paid more for something bigger and better.
The whale-watching from Mirissa was not as well organised or regulated as others we have experienced. Frankly, it was a bit of a scrum, not helped by the lack of consideration by some nationalities.
