TikaWeeks #18/2020: Sri Lanka update
Posted by John on 28th April 2020
The Sri Lankan government announced the phased reduction in curfews from 20 April 2020, although overnight curfew measures and social distancing instructions remain in force. The current curfew in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts will continue until 04 May 2020 when the regulations will be relaxed to allow government departments and companies to operate. In all other districts, the curfew will be relaxed between 05.00 and 20.00 daily until further notice.
There remain options to return to the UK from Sri Lanka by commercial flights. Qatar Airways is operating flights from Colombo to Doha three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), with onward connections to the UK. SriLankan Airlines has extended the suspension of flights until at least 15 May 2020.
