One of our partners in Sri Lanka has been doing wonders with an agrarian community in the island’s southeastern Dry Zone region regarding human-elephant conflict, which is a major issue in much of rural Sri Lanka. Three and a half years ago, Eco Team embarked on a mission to restore harmony between people and wildlife. What started out as a bold conservation initiative to protect both human livelihoods and elephant populations has now blossomed into an inspiring story of resilience, coexistence, and renewal.

The success of this project is a testament to the power of sustainable initiatives, proving that with the right approach, conservation can go hand-in-hand with community prosperity. This shows that protecting Sri Lanka’s wildlife and empowering its people ensures future generations inherit a landscape where both humans and elephants thrive in harmony.

An update on the arrivals card portal. Recent customers travelling through Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo have suggested that the arrivals card is no longer necessary as they entered Sri Lanka without one with no trouble at all. However, we still haven’t received any official communication from the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka that this is the case. Watch this space for further updates.
