There may be problems arranging transport to the airport for your flight home, although a number of taxi and tourism companies continue to operate airport runs, but will require advance booking. Your hotel or travel company should be able to help book transport to the airport for you. The Sri Lanka government has established helplines for foreign visitors who are facing problems booking taxis to the airport for departure:

For once, I agree with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa that the Sri Lanka government “have taken all possible measures to ensure the safety of our people” facing the threat of coronavirus disease. The government repatriated students studying in Wuhan, China at the beginning of the outbreak, recently returned pilgrims from India, closed schools and universities, quarantined infected people, closed the international airport to arrivals, and imposed a curfew nationwide – an event that never happened even during the height of the civil war. We will see how the UK government’s actions compare as time goes on…
