Essential Information For Sri Lanka

Passport

You must hold a valid passport to enter Sri Lanka. Your passport must be valid for a minimum period of six months from the date of entry to Sri Lanka.

Standard Visitor Visa

You are required to complete an eVisa application prior to arrival in the country. The Standard Visitor Visa is valid for 6 months. You may enter the country twice during this period, but each stay is limited to a maximum of 60 days. The Standard Visitor Visa is issued for sightseeing/holidaying; visiting friends and relatives; medical treatment including Ayurveda and Yoga; participating in sports events/competitions and activities relating to cultural performances. To apply for the eVisa, please visit the official website of Sri Lanka eVisa. You will need to create an account before completing the online application form as well as uploading a recent passport size colour photo and the biometric page of your passport. After paying the eVisa fee, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt and a unique application reference number, which you may use to track your application. Upon approval, download and print your eVisa to present to the Immigration Officer at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.

You may also be asked to produce a return flight ticket or proof of onward travel from Sri Lanka when entering the country.

Arrival Card

You are also required to complete an Arrival Card as an e-form from 3 days prior to the flight to Colombo. 

Airport Departure Tax

Local Airport Departure Tax in Sri Lanka is included in your flight ticket.
